NEW FERRY PARK BUTTERFLY COMMA PROJECT - DIARY DATES

04 July 2012

PhotobucketThe New Ferry Butterfly Park Comma Project (an empty shops initiative funded by Wirral Council) is based on Bebington Road in the old Runners Sports shop. It was opened at the end of April by Harriet Harman MP and has grown in popularity since then and is funded until mid September 2012.

It is a non profit making venture to engage the local community in nature via art. So far 4 artists have been in residence within the space, making work and providing free art workshops.

Each month a showcase evening is held for the local community to see what the artist has been working on that month. Visitor numbers have increased both in the shop and in the butterfly park itself as a result of the project, with many new people coming into the area to join in.

Each project has been very different to the next from eco-poetics to paper tree de-forestation, painting on stones to the current artist making seed bombs, bugs and badges and teaching how to be creative with planting. Each project has been increasingly busier with more people learning about the shop as time goes on, it'd be great in the time remaining to get even more people taking part and engaging with art and nature and learning about the Butterfly Park in the process. There are still plenty of workshops and events in the diary to join in with or anyone is welcome to just pop into the shop for a cup of tea and a chat.
