recent Annual General Meeting on 23rd July 2012, New Ferry Regeneration
Action Group (NFRAG) changed its name to New Ferry Residents Association
proposed and agreed by the 26 members of the community who attended the
meeting, was made to reflect the fact that the community group wanted
its name/title to reflect the fact that it wants to help out where it
can with all ideas/initiatives which members of the community want to
pursue, such as the new New Ferry Women's Choir which is being set up by
former NFRAG secretary, Sarah Spoor.
will now also be focussing more specifically on issues affecting New
Ferry, so the decision was made and agreed that the area of its
influence should be shrunk to no longer include the communities of Port
Sunlight and Bromborough Pool Village. For over ten years, the
group has delivered newsletters to those two communities, but we have
found these have generated little support or interest.
At the AGM,
a number of the committee resigned from their roles to concentrate on
other specific projects within the community which now interest them.
Amongst them are:-
Sloane, one of the founding members of NFRAG who had been with the
group since 1999. Marian had been the group's treasurer for
the last two years, and had been a huge bonus to the group with her
knowledge of finance issues as we refurbished the football pavilion
in the park amongst other projects. Marian has now left NeFRA
to concentrate her efforts on the
committee of the Village Hall users group.
Spoor has resigned from the role of secretary and left NeFRA to concentrate on
running the new women's choir, and is joint chair of the Friends of
New Ferry Park which has seen some wonderful work achieved over the
last 18 months with new benches, trees, daffodil bulbs and heather
Fitzgerald has left her role as Vice-Chair of the group to spend
more time with her family.
At the AGM,
elections were held for the various positions. Mark Anthony Craig
was re-elected as Chair, and John Blainey as Treasurer. Although
other committee posts were filled, the roles of Vice-Chair and Secretary
were not filled. If anyone in the community would like to
volunteer for these roles and become more involved in local community
issues, please send an email to
email@example.com or write to NeFRA, c/o New Ferry
