many years of waiting, New Ferry and Port Sunlight are finally to be
linked with a new "Puffin" pedestrian crossing at the junction of
Boundary Road and Bebington Road.
important crossing point has been a nightmare for many residents trying
to cross the road between Port Sunlight village and New Ferry
for a crossing at this point has been made several times over the years
by New Ferry Residents Association who included it in their first Action
Plan in 2000 shortly after the group was set up and consulted with
residents. The Council's Highways Department had previously turned
requests for a light-controlled crossing down, saying that the junction
was too busy and that there was no money to fund it.

at this location. Workmen will begin work towards the end of

For many years, residents - particularly elderly residents of Port
Sunlight - have said how unsafe they have felt whilst crossing the road
at this busy point. I'm sure they will now feel much safer, and
the crossing will encourage more people to come to shop in New Ferry at
a time when the local traders need as many customers as possible."
