NEW FERRY TO HOST A SECOND CLASSIC VEHICLE DAY/SUMMER EVENT

13 April 2014

Following on from the success of the first event in August 2013, New Ferry will be hosting a second Classic Vehicle Day between 9am and 3pm on Saturday 12th July 2014.

New Ferry Residents Association (NeFRA) is working with New Ferry's Town Team to try to boost the fortunes of our district centre.  The aim is to provide some added interest that will entice footfall into the centre that will hopefully benefit our traders and businesses.

Wirral Transport Museum has already pledged its support and will be providing several buses of the type that would have operated from or through New Ferry in the mid to late 20th century, along with a Green Goddess Fire Engine.

In addition, Wirral Classic Car Club has offered several of its vehicles which will be parked in the pedestrianised precinct for people to have a look at.  More vehicles will be attending than last year.

Also, this year we will be extending the event with more attractions.  A temporary stage will be erected outside Lloyds Bank where choirs, musicians, dancers and other acts will be performing or giving demonstrations.  We will be announcing many of these nearer the time. However, if you are a small band or group and would like the chance to perform, we would love to hear from you.  We are particularly interested in young people having the chance to show off their talents.

The event will also be used as a vehicle (pardon the pun!) to promote the charity Stick n Step who have a branch headquarters in New Ferry.  Stick n Step is a national charity that works with children suffering from cerebral palsy and their families.

If you own a classic vehicle and would like to get involved, or would like to perform in public if you are a singing/dancing group or other suitable act, please ring John Blainey on 0151 538 6920 or email him at johnblainey@gmail.com.  We can offer free tea and coffee for vehicle owners on the day, for which we will issue complimentary passes when you arrive on the day with your vehicle.

You can also contact John if you would like to display a poster for us.  These will be available some time during May or June.
