on from the success of the "Into the Light" night of remembrance on the
2nd anniversary of the devastating explosion, the community
of New Ferry is coming together once again to host its annual FESTIVAL
IN THE PARK.
Dancers from the blast-affected dance school Complete Works will be
performing, as well as local choirs including Grove Street School Choir
and the Wirral Sign Choir. Entertainment on the stage will also include
performances by local bands including Ragamuffin.
Amongst the other main attractions this year will be some WW2 Living
History Displays including British Airborne and Women's Land Army. There
will also be a Jet Provost aircraft cockpit for children to sit in and
Vintage buses will be paying a visit courtesy of Wirral Transport
Museum, and one of them will be used for guided bus tours of the
adjacent historic Port Sunlight Village.
In addition, this two day event will also have a Funfair, Bouncy
Castles, Facepainting, Donkey Rides, Stalls selling items including hair
accessories, cakes and crafts, and lots more! There will even be a Dog
Show for everyone in the community to enter their own canine Best
This year, the event is being held alongside the 2019 Port Sunlight
Festival of Running which will be taking place in the village on the
Sunday (16th May). The 5K and 10K races will be held at the usual times
of 10.00am and 11.00am respectively. In addition to the main 10K and 5K
races there will once again be a 1K fun run for children which will take
place at the conclusion of the 10K race.
Organised by New Ferry Residents Association together with Port Sunlight
Village Trust and the New Ferry Community Land Trust, the event's aim is
to give New Ferry a fun day to share with Port Sunlight and the wider
Mark Craig, Chair of New Ferry Residents Association said: "This is the
third year New Ferry has held its Festival in the Park. It is important
that we give this community something of its own; something to enjoy;
and something to share with the wider community who have supported us
through some difficult times in recent years."
The event is able to take place with sponsorship from Asda. Its aim is
to raise funds for the benefit of New Ferry including its Christmas
lights this winter.

3x3m pitch is £20 per day or £35 for 2 days.
6x3m pitch is £30 per day or £45 for 2 days.
Concessions for New Ferry or Port Sunlight-based businesses and groups.
All stallholders must have their own public liability insurance. No
alcohol sales, sorry. Burger van and ice creams already booked. Any
other food sellers who make their own produce must provide copy of their
Food Hygiene Rating from their local authority.
Sorry - we cannot provide tables or gazebos - you must bring your own.
No electricity is provided.
