Following on from the success of the "Into the Light" night of remembrance on the 2nd anniversary of the devastating explosion, the community of New Ferry is coming together once again to host its annual FESTIVAL IN THE PARK.

Dancers from the blast-affected dance school Complete Works will be performing, as well as local choirs including Grove Street School Choir and the Wirral Sign Choir. Entertainment on the stage will also include performances by local bands including Ragamuffin.

Amongst the other main attractions this year will be some WW2 Living History Displays including British Airborne and Women's Land Army. There will also be a Jet Provost aircraft cockpit for children to sit in and pose.
Vintage buses will be paying a visit courtesy of Wirral Transport Museum, and one of them will be used for guided bus tours of the adjacent historic Port Sunlight Village.

In addition, this two day event will also have a Funfair, Bouncy Castles, Facepainting, Donkey Rides, Stalls selling items including hair accessories, cakes and crafts, and lots more! There will even be a Dog Show for everyone in the community to enter their own canine Best Friend(s).

This year, the event is being held alongside the 2019 Port Sunlight Festival of Running which will be taking place in the village on the Sunday (16th May). The 5K and 10K races will be held at the usual times of 10.00am and 11.00am respectively. In addition to the main 10K and 5K races there will once again be a 1K fun run for children which will take place at the conclusion of the 10K race.

Organised by New Ferry Residents Association together with Port Sunlight Village Trust and the New Ferry Community Land Trust, the event's aim is to give New Ferry a fun day to share with Port Sunlight and the wider Wirral community.

Mark Craig, Chair of New Ferry Residents Association said: "This is the third year New Ferry has held its Festival in the Park. It is important that we give this community something of its own; something to enjoy; and something to share with the wider community who have supported us through some difficult times in recent years."

The event is able to take place with sponsorship from Asda. Its aim is to raise funds for the benefit of New Ferry including its Christmas lights this winter.
